Giving Tuesday #L2TGives

November 30, 2022

This Giving Tuesday, we are highlighting partner-organizations in our community who are helping address food insecurity in the Northern Okanagan. While L2T is working toward long-term systems change, we recognize the immediate need in our communities. Winter is here and with it the hardship of increased costs of heating and food. For many this means an alarming increase in food insecurity.

Continue reading below about the partners in our movement who are already supporting low-income seniors and families in need, and how you can help make sure folks have access to local, healthy, and culturally acceptable food, no matter the season.

The North Okanagan Good Food Box

The Good Food Box hopes to help supply more boxes of fresh fruits and veggies to the Aboriginal Infant and Early Childhood Development Centre to support families with pre and post natal needs. They also hope to supplement the families in need across the region by providing extra boxes to schools in Lumby, Armstrong, Vernon, and Enderby. If The Good Food Box can raise $1825, they can purchase these boxes and have them delivered to folks.

How to Donate to the Good Food Box

Good Food Box can accept your donation by E-transfer. To sponsor/donate by e-Transfer email goodfoodboxok@gmail.com with:

  1. Name
  2. Telephone number
  3. Number of monthly boxes you are sponsoring (minimum 1)
  4. Number of months you are sponsoring (minimum 1, maximum 12)
  5. This is a GivingTuesday donation

Note: They have auto-deposit. No password is required.
To make your sponsorship donation in person contact the North Okanagan Good Food Box Coordinator at 250-306-7800 to arrange a time and place.

NexusBC Community Resource Centre

NexusBC’s goals are to raise money to purchase 20 healthy food boxes full of fresh produce (from the Good Food Box) for our vulnerable seniors as well as purchase food gift cards to local grocery stores to give to our clients for the holidays. Donating $300 will cover the food boxes, and all denominations of $25 after that will purchase grocery gift cards. Ensure our older populations are cared for during these holiday months!

How to donate to NexusBC

You can visit nexusbc.ca/donate-online to make a general one-time or monthly donation to NexusBC.
To ensure your donation goes towards this initiative in particular, make a note in the “In Honour of” section of the donation page. Let them know that you want your dollars to go toward buying food boxes and grocery gift cards this holiday season.

From our Network to yours, thank you for your generous Giving!
