On September 21st and 22nd, 2024 you’re invited to “Know Your Farmer, Explore the BX”—to connect with local food, to better know your farmers and how they are farming, and to explore all the BX has to offer. At Wildwood Acres Garden Farm we are working to create a permaculture food forest approach for our gardens, our livestock (goats) and ourselves. Our philosophy is a blend of traditional and modern practices of homesteading – we grow, we harvest, we preserve and we produce natural products like goat milk soap and shampoo bars, and we blend organic herbal teas with healing purpose and we create other plant based holistic healing products.
From our edible garden, our lavender and wildflowers to our pollinator garden and our health & healing garden we are in love with what Mother Earth has given us. Our farm is featuring our lavender this year. It’s all about the pure joy of lavender – we will have food and drink featuring lavender, recipes and some extra special ways to enjoy this amazing herb. Our farm stand will be at Elderberry Fields this year where we will have produce, our natural products and flowers for sale as well.

Visit for pasture-raised pork, lamb and chicken, eggs, products and preserves.
While Courtney comes from a farming family, Chris does not, so we are definitely learning as we go. We started with chickens for eggs, then added chickens for meat. Now, we raise pigs in the spring for fall harvest. We also keep two breeding ewes and a ram for lambs in March.
Stop by Morrison Funny Farm to meet our ram, Boss Baby, hold a newly hatched chick, and check out our preserves—maybe even try some samples!

The sncəcmałqtn Agricultural Park, formerly referred to as the BX Ranchlands, was recently renamed in partnership with the Okanagan Indian Band, to align with the Syilx territory it resides on – it’s meaning is “place of small crops or gardens” (hear the Syilx pronunciation here). This site is approximately 134 acres of agricultural land located on the outskirts of Vernon, with historical significance to the area. Local residents know the area for its perimeter walking trail; what you may not realize is that a development plan has been proposed to transform this site into a community-owned agricultural park. The intention is to have users, such as farmers, community organizations, Indigenous groups, and school groups accessing the park for agriculture, research, and land-based educational opportunities by Spring 2025.
Learn more about agricultural opportunities here: sncəcmałqtn Agricultural Park
