Recap: L2T Strategic Planning Day On June 6th, Land to Table staff and Board members gathered for a full-day strategic planning retreat to reflect on where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we want to go over the next 3–5 years. Together, we explored the changing conditions shaping our food system—from climate change and affordability pressures to evolving opportunities for local food infrastructure and regional collaboration. The day focused on identifying the strategic priorities that will guide our work through 2030, while also reflecting on how we want to work together as an organization. Through thoughtful discussion, we revisited our values, explored the operating principles that guide us in navigating complexity, and considered how Land to Table can continue to strengthen both the local food economy and community…

Around the Table: A Day of Connection, Curiosity and Collective Insight

Event Recap, Past Event
Photography by Phreeagent Creative Media On November 20th, 60 community members from across the Columbia–Shuswap and North Okanagan regions came together for Land to Table’s “Around the Table” Forum, a gathering rooted in relationship-building, shared learning, and collective visioning for a resilient regional food system.  This year’s forum marked a meaningful milestone: a moment to pause and reflect on five years of collaboration under the United Way of British Columbia’s Regional Community Hub initiative. This event was an opportunity to review what goals and priorities we set back at the 2020 forum and what ideas we should be focusing on moving forward. Attendees represented a rich cross-section of the food system: farmers, Indigenous-serving and -led organizations, food banks, school food programs, health sector staff, funders, local government, nonprofit leaders, processors,…

You may have heard our very exciting announcement with the Ministry on March 17. Allow us to share a bit more, and in doing so start from the beginning… On my first day in my new role with Land to Table in May 2018, I met with a group of folks at the Rancho Vignola warehouse in Armstrong, including the owners. Not long after, during meetings with local food stakeholders, as follow up to a 2018 forum that L2T hosted (on Growing the Local Food Economy), I heard many times over that the North Okanagan region needed a food hub - a place and dedicated staff to oversee aggregation, marketing…
